During the stump removal process we use a large machine with a spinning disc full of carbide teeth. This amazing machine is able to take what was once solid wood and turns it into fresh mulch. Roots can also be removed using the same method.
Upon completion of the stump removal, the hole left in the earth is full of mulch. You may wish to leave the mulch there to keep the hole filled, or you may want to add the mulch to your flower bed or garden.
Stump Removal Cost
Grinding starts out at $4 per inch when the diameter is measured across at the widest point where the root flare meets the ground. DO NOT measure where the tree was cut off at, as a wider area than that must be ground to totally remove the stump. This is a great way to get a ballpark estimate of the cost of removal. There are some variables below though that may increase the cost of a job due to increased danger and equipment wear.
Variables
- Stumps taller than 12″ above grade level
- Rocks surrounding the stump
- Roots more that 2′ away from stump
- Difficult access such as hills or confined entrances
- Foreign objects within stump
- Utilities within vicinity
